I grew up in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, and after traveling all over the Country, I can't think of a better place to raise children. I am sure that is why, coming from CT. my parents decided to settle here in Bristol. They bought their first house in Bristol in 1970 situated about 2 miles from Newfound Lake. My Father had just returned from Vietnam, left the Marine Corps and moved to Bristol, my Mother followed and they got married. Bristol, and Newfound Lake have been a great place to grow up. I can remember the lake when it didn't have any of the Condo's. Places that are just ghosts now, like Woodbury's Cottages and Marina, Camp Greenwood (a restaurant on the lake), the Newfound Marina and our boat that sunk there! The old 5 and 10, Joe's Market (where you bought your meat), the IGA, and many, many other places around the area that have changed.

It seems like just yesterday that my brother and I would ride our bikes into town for penny candy. Or the Bristol House of Pizza that started out as a little hole in the wall pizzeria next to Cumberland Farms...... In 2006 I purchased from my parents the house I grew up in, funny how things work out. I live in Bristol with my two children, Samantha, 16 and Douglas, 13. Sam is a Sophomore at Newfound Regional and Douglas is finishing 8th grade at Newfound Middle School. We all keep busy with snowboarding, fishing, boating, baseball, football and field hockey.

Although things have changed in the area, the quality of life is still the same. I have some very fond memories of the lake and I hope whether you are considering a visit or to re-locate that you call me to find out more about Newfound Lake.
