Squam Lakes Association | Holderness, NH The Squam Lakes Association (SLA) is dedicated to conserving for the public benefit the natural beauty, peaceful character and unique resource values of the lakes and surrounding area. In cooperation with local and state authorities and other conservation organizations, the Association promotes the protection, careful use and shared enjoyment of the lakes, mountains, forests, open spaces and wildlife of the Squam Lakes Region. Since 1904 the Squam Lakes Association has worked to preserve the character of the Squam Lakes. |
Lake Wentworth Association | Wolfeboro, NH The Lake Wentworth Association was established in 1930. The Association was established for the protection and preservation of Lake Wentworth and Crescent Lake as well as the wildlife and habitat associated with them. Promotion of knowledge about the lakes and their history is also part of the association's mission. The Lake Wentworth Association presently has more than 1,000 regular, associate, and junior members. Members are also encouraged to volunteer to serve on committees in areas in which they have expertise or interest. The success of the association's many initiatives is a direct result of the active participation by many members. More information at www.lwa.org |

Lake Winnipesaukee | New Hampshire Lakes Region Lake Winnipesaukee (WI-ni-puh-SAW-kee) ( 78 sq miles), is located in East Central New Hampshire and is the largest lake in the state. Irregular in shape, with many arms of significance: Moultonborough Bay, Paugus Bay, Opeche Bay, and Alton Bay. It has 283 miles of shoreline and many small islands. The Winnipesaukee River exits from Opeche Bay of Lake Winnipesaukee at Laconia, and flows 1 mile SW into Winnisquam Lake, continues SW through Tilton Lake and Silver Lake, past Tilton, then joins the Pemigewasset River at Franklin to form Merrimack River.
