Mount Washington Cruise
Arguably New Hampshire's most enjoyable attraction is the famous Mount Washington. Located on the states largest lake, Winnipesaukee, the cruise ship carries passengers through New Hampshire's scenic and natural beauty. The MS Mount Washington offers daytime scenic cruises, evening dinner dance cruises, and a jazz and champagne brunch. The ship travels to several points on the big lake servicing the ports of Weirs Beach, Wolfeboro, Alton Bay, Center Harbor, and Meredith.
History:
The MS Mount Washington has a rich history dating back to 1872. Since that date there have only been two vessels named "Mount Washington" to cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee. The first vessel was a 178 ft. side-wheeler. The great steamship was initially designed to carry passengers from one side of the lake to the other. In the ship's early years it was not uncommon for her to transport 60,000 people per season. Even in the 1800's the White Mountains of New Hampshire attracted several thousand tourists and vacationers with its pristine waters and gorgeous views. Tragically in December of 1939 a fire destroyed the S.S. Mount Washington as well as the surrounding railroad station.
Within a year a new boat was purchased and reconstructed, the new boat was called the S.S. Mount Washington II and was launched on August 15, 1940. Today the boat has undergone several cosmetic and functional changes including two twin diesel engines and the addition of 25 ft. the frame.

The Mount Washington Today:
Today the Mount Washington attracts crowds from all over the country. With a capacity of 1250 passengers there is more than enough room to stretch out and enjoy the scenic views. What used to be mainly a summer attraction the Mount Washington now services passengers from May through October. With evening dinner cruises, dance specials, and theme cruises, there is always a party aboard Winnipesaukee's great ship. The "MOUNT" is also a popular venue for proms, reunions, large corporate celebrations, and weddings. It is estimated that more than 700 couples have tied the knot aboard the large ship.
