After a fortuitous encounter with travels in 1865 the owners of a large farm house began a small Inn which they called The Mountain View House. Over the years the Inn expanded and changed owners developing into what it is today, a 400 acre colonial luxury resort with fine dining, spectacular mountain vistas, and English flower gardens.

The Balsams:
The Balsams known as "New England's Resort" has been welcoming guests for over 140 years. This vast 15,000 acre estate affords guests superior dining, private guest accommodations, and unlimited use of all facilities.
