What makes Bean Group green?

real estate Business doesn't have to be destructive. Bean Group tries to incorporate environmental policies within our business. These environmental policies are based on transportation alternatives, energy efficiency, conservation, waste reduction, and pollution prevention.

What makes Bean Group green today?

• At Bean Group our real estate agents do not drive to offices each day. They have no daily commute. And that saves gas (and time). American workers spend an average of 47 hours per year commuting through rush hour traffic. This adds up to 3.7 billion hours and 23 billion gallons of gas wasted in traffic each year. By allowing our agents to stay at home we ease some of this strain.

• The greenest paper is no paper at all, we try hard to keep things digital whenever possible. The more you do online, the less you need paper. And Bean Group does a lot online. In fact we are currently adopting an online transaction process for our buyers and sellers to reduce the huge amounts of paper produced by transactions. Buyers, sellers, agents, attorneys, and staff will all be able to review documents onscreen rather than printing them out.

What about tomorrow?

• In the future we hope to offer incentives to our real estate agents and employees who'll choose to drive Hybrid cars.

How good is good enough? Currently there is a lack of standards on what constitutes a "green business." That lack of standards frustrates many companies' efforts to be seen as "good guys"; instead, they never seem to be good enough. But there may be an upside to the lack of definitions: With no standards, the bar is free to drift continually higher. While we don't propose to be "good guys", we are happy to be part of the effort for a greener world.
